even if the rock you have is from the old tank I dont think it would take to long if you put in some new quality LR to re seed the rest of it ;)

I like the start very much, cant wait to see how this goes!

by the way that LR looks pretty good, its got some good coralline ( i beleive it is anyways). I love coralline when it gets great coverage!

Jayshay,
Thansk mate. Yeh te rocks got good coraline, but I have a fair bit of base rock that I need to seed! I think there's some bryopsis on it though. I think that's who it's Spelt?! But there's also Xenia so it may just find it's way to the sump for nutrient management ;)
Vspec,
Yeh mate half wet haha. Pump was very quiet I dont know why it just stopped. Hopefully trying to run it through a cheap remote controller didn't stuff it :/ ha

Got my D4000,
all plumbed up and everything is working like a charm!! tested everything i could, siphon blockage, RTP power off, all power off plus startup and I cant get it to stuff up so im pretty stoked to say the least! I have a good quality ball valve on the siphon now so tuning is a breeze, the only problem is when power is of the skimmer fills up with water for a few seconds, cause of the higher water level but i can live with that!
For everyone still wondering how my bloody imfamous drain setup works haha

That tiny purple dot is where the water level sits constantly.

Decent surface skimming :)

final sump setup with macro from RACHIE85 on MASA
ai1202.photobucket.com_albums_bb362_wmackay1991_100_1996.jpg

bit clearer than yesterday. The things i would do differently in heinsight is definitely just plug the holes in the bottom ad made an external weir, would have been so much better but this will still be alright.
ended up with about 400L total volume.

Id say 15mm I think mate. I used 19mm tubing cause I had it and had to use 3 massive cable ties so it would squeeze tight enough!

Just get a 19mm threaded barb. That's what I have. Then the other side is the pump. Cheers man I just put some coral sand in it an settled on a scape so I'll throw some pics up when I get a few coral ;)

Mitch,
I know I was waiting for that! Ha nah I'm going to use some egg crate stuff for the moment.
Slin,
I don't really know what a heraldi is ha but cheers for the reply. There should be enough rock and room for them to not fight hopefully. There was guys with 2 yellow tangs in the same size as mine?! I know that's kinda wrong but.

Heraldi looks like a lemonpeel or a bi colour without any blue on. Two angels should be fine. I think the problem with tangs in a small tank is they need space to swim they cover huge distances in large shoals as they graze the algea off the reef.
