I suppose I should probably re-introduce myself… some of you would remember me from back when this site first started as @n0rk, but these days I go by a much more exciting name (can you guess…?). I've worked in the industry for a number of years for a number of different outfits, and just recently made the jump over to actually owning my own business specialising in high-end and rare livestock… if the overlords will allow it, I'll post some photos up to gloat about how cool I am show what I get to perv on most days?

Either way, hi :D looking forward to getting back into things and helping out where I can. Cheers!

Hi All, I'm new to salt water aquarium scene,so I will probly be on here a bit with a heap of questions. I recently brought a 2nd hand 200ltr tank and a Fluval 205 canister filter, that I hope to set up with some artificial coral an a few fish. Today I went and got a Berlin Airlift 60 protein skimmer and a fluval Q1 to run it on. Just wanting some advice on how to get started. I have purchased all new filter media and I'm soaking the filter to get it as clean as possible. What should in regards to tank positioning the house and any advice on initial set up
Cheers

Dave

Hello all...i am Servet Sir from Oak Park (vic)...i'm slowly and in a small way getting back into the hobby- i have started with an ORCA 80 litre nano tank, til i have more room for a bigger unit... even though i have had marines in the past i still regard myself as a NOOB especially with the knowledge factor... i am not into corals as yet but i'm sure i will venture down that path in the future after seeing some great tanks around... i am more of a fishy person, would rather watch the characters and personalities of the fish in the tank... however i am more than happy to assist where i can -time permitting, i do work rotating shifts...

Hello all my name is Hoang, you can call me H to make it easier.I'm located in footscray, Victoria. I have been reefing for nearly 1 year and haven't had as much as experience as the other guys on the site. I'm much more of a lurker but am always learning about the New hobby. Well I hope I can learn more things and under the right guidance can upbring a stable and suitable environment home reef. :D

I'm Justin and I live in Wollongong. I currently have 5 tanks. 2 planted, 1 Discus + hospital tank and 1 nano Salt tank (see TJ for more details)

I would love to know if any members are close to me on the south coast? I'm always keen for a look at members tanks and to trade plants, fish or maybe even frags in the future!

I can't stop learning, I love this hobby!

yes welcome to all us newbies.....great forum also strongly recommend reefuge also another fantastic site with great members-even though some of us are on both-great resource for information between the two- also great bargains to pick up and knowledge and experience and assistance offered is fantastic. very friendly on both forums...i couldnt speak high enough of both sites and the members. always a good idea to make a contribution no matter how great or small but the contributions ensure its running of the sites and make the forums what they are...long live these 2 sites....hope to be part of it for life!!!! Really appreciate the friendliness of the members on these sites....Thanx to everyone-keep up the great work....

PS: oh yeah no longer rotating shift worker (as prev post)-so if anyone needs a hand or two-i can assist when time permits!!! not much in knowledge but can assist with lifting etc....so broan not brains (on marines)...lol

Hello everyone,

I'm Martin from across the pond. In my search to expand my mind and learn more I signed up after doing a search for something. But any ways....My son got me back into reefing over the summer. We have a SeaClear 26g Flatback Hex tank with 2 120W programmable led units we got from a friend. I'm currently DIY'n it to work with a controller right now for moonphases only...more control later. But we have a mixture or zoanthids/palythias, SPS and LPS. Soon as I get 10 posts i'll post a picture of our setup.

Hello to all!

My name is Joey. I had the pleasure of meeting Ken & Jen (K&J Aquatics) yesterday who pointed me toward this site. Thanks guys ;) - Lovely people and beautiful tank I must say! I am located in Melton West in Victoria very close to Ken & Jen.

I have just posted over in the "Fish" section regarding fish selection for my planned 5ft in wall mixed reef tank.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and learning new things!

Joey.
