aving lost 2 clams over the years to pinched mantle a couple of things became apparent,by the time symptoms are displayed you realistically have a few hours to try and save the clam,the freshwater dip so often advised is pretty much hit and miss as the virus that causes PM has been shown to tolerate freshwater well and can live for 6 hours, more than long enough to kill the clam,something stronger is needed but needs discovery and experimentation
fortunately there is a simple solution,only maxima and to an extent crocea get PM,if you only keep squamosa,derasa and giga you wont get PM,since finding this out ive never lost a clam
