i was a metal engineer, i know it seems pretencious but i wasnt a sheet metal worker or boiler maker as such but qualified in both. generally jusy say boiler maker though as that is what most people know.
also qualified landscaper/horticulturist.

I am only 26 and people might wonder how i have these trades. well started the metal trade first, at 15 and was finished at 18 fully qualified. then after a year or so did the lanscaping and finished that early at about 21-22. went back to boiler making then had my accident. so now retired for now at 26 until i get the operations and get a new back. plan on going into real estate development for myself when my compensation claim is finalised.

done a few other things to. i was getting paid to play footy in adelaide when i was an apprentice which helped big time on those wages, also worked part time as a barman on weekends after working full weeks as a boilermaker. spent a few months as a chippy labourer.
ran my own welding business for a long time too, doing that on weekens while working for a boss through the week.
(god i wish i was still making this sort of $$$)

think thats bout it!! only job i really loved though was when i was working with stainless steel making modern furniture and water features/art.

32 and work as a part time night filler for bunnings, part time golfer and full time dad. Used to be full time at bunnings years ago but when we had kids my wife stayed in full time work as she earned twice my wage. Once the kids are at school and i've got to my ten years at bunnings i'm going to look into being a greenskeeper for a golf course.... if nothing else hopefully i'd be able to play golf for free ;) Worked in retail my whole life so might be good for a change and do something that i really want to do, though i do like bunnings generally its a pretty good working environment.

Refrigeration Mechanic at an Aluminium Smelter.. can be challenging can be bit boring when it's just preventative Maintenance..
would ideally like to be my own boss manufacturing stuff.. eg, chillers, tanks, anything to do with this hobby or car performance..
biggest problem is that it wouldn't keep me in the lifestyle I am accustom to..

I love hearing about "mature aged" persons starting in a trade. 20 years ago it was unheard of and now a lot of people are doing something they always wanted but it just wasnt possible! Now the industry has realised the asset that mature aged apprentices can be in a lot of situations.... You cant train life experience into a 17 - 18 year old apprentice!
