That is correct - they come with a pot which you can adjust to vary the current through each LED string. Just making sure that you weren't expecting the full sunrise/sunset effect.
pre-soldering the pads, once they are on the heatsink it can become tricky. Also use a super hot soldering iron with a big tip, the colder the tip the longer you will have to keep it on the LED the more chance you have of frying it
this is pretty much pre tinning an LED, not the cleanest finished product but the best pics I could find online, need to do the same to the wire ends too. makes attaching them to each other about a million times easier
Get thinner solder and a 80 watt minimum soldering iron mate, it will be a lot easier for you. Mind you it is hard to tell from the photos , but looks pretty neat for a first go. :)
