thats better! i really like that, if it wasnt for the things in the background to give it scale you would think that was a lot larger. I think that is the secret in nanos to try and create a little mini world with different areas of interest

yeah its took a few times to get it right but im liking the over all layout the very top rock will actually end up as a small overhang once glued....and once my zoa frags start to grow in there (ie its a healthy system) im going to pry them off there plugs and glue them to the rockwork so in the end it will be one big (or rather small) living sculpture:D

i sort of did when its sitting right at the front there is about 75mm clearance between back of the rock and the back of the paper so that should be enough to clear the weir yeah ?

empty with light on. 4 blue cree xp-e's 1rb and 3 other nm of blue 1 neutral white all run on one driver at 700ma, gives off an 16-18K look roughly bright as hell. fan is off in the photo usualy have the fan on top to keep the light cool.

Black is alot of work but with all of the 10 tablespoons worth you have it couldnt imagine it could be that much of an issue to maintain? So id give black a go just for shits and giggles

there seems to be an amazing amount of light coloured debris in reef tanks that you are constantly picking out, wether its a shrimp mould, chip of LR, broken peice of coral or even a build up of brownish mullen it only takes the tinies bit to ruin that effect and the cdont orals pop anymore.

Yeah fair call but I'll be doing weekly wc so I'll vacuum sand once a week as part of maintenance worst case I toss it and put normal in but I'm only doing black if I can find someone who can sell me a cup or two as I can only find 9kg bags for $69 !

I was the black substrate fanboy now that I have had mine for a while im sick of it and thinking of changing it out for white! I have to agree with NiCd its only takes the tiniest piece of debris to ruin the effect, even with my weekly water changes by change day its already looking like crap again!
