Unhappy Finger Leather
Hi,

I purchased this white finger leather a little over 12-months ago and never had a problem with him. He has always been healthy and has doubled in size since I got him. I came home from work on Wednesday and he was pulled in almost to his stump, I didn't think much about it as both my leathers have done this before. On Thursday I noticed that his cells on his right side had bubbled like they had taken in large amounts of water. The bubbles have gone down however apart from that he hasn't improved.

I have tested the water with no problems detected. I've also completed my normal water change and cleaning routine yesterday. Nothing else in the tank is unhappy (fish or coral). Nothing in the tank has change or been added/taken away in over three months, I cannot work out what could be wrong with him. Links to some photos below.

The tank system is 700 litre reef mostly LSP with a few SPS, fish in the tank are three tangs, a chocolate goby, a mandarin, a flame angel, four anthias and a cleaner wrasse.

Could just be shedding, sometimes it can be for a week or more. If it starts to go mushy or start disintegrate is when you should be worried

i had one that cracked the sooks for 3 months. Once it got over it, it took over the tank. I cut off maybe 40 frags :)

Nothing is jumping out at me as being obviously wrong. All the tissue looks healthy and the polyps are half out. Good to hear it has mostly come back. It is definitely not shedding however and doesn't look like it needs to either which is indicative that it has good flow around it (which is good). One of those things perhaps...
