Redsea No3po4x The Journey To Sps Heaven Starts
The SPS RTN issues have gone (thats because I lost 90% of my SPS's) the algae battle is over, tank params are stable and LPS, RBTA, Zoa's are all doing great again. After 8 weeks of 75l/week WC (300L DT) and its looking a lot better. Before I go down the SPS path again I've decided to give redsea NO3PO4 X a shot as my nitrates will not budge below 4ppm even with all the WC. (I have tested my NSW No3=0.00) Rowaphos has my po4 under control at 0.03. My LED light cycle is now on a profilux and ramped up to 75% at the peak so not blasting the hell out of the tank any more.
So the plan is get my nitrates ~1 ppm and then give SPS another shot. All whilst making sure GSP never gets into my tank again. Would of put this in my TJ however never bothered starting a new TJ so I will document the result here....
FRIDAY 6th Nitrate 4 ppm, Phos. 0.03 ppm, Started NOPOX at 5ml total (~300l DT)
Monday 9th (3 days in) - Nitrate 3 ppm, Phos. 0.07 ppm -No3po4 5ml
Its difficult to look at 3 or 4 ppm No3 (redsea Pro low range kit) however believe the colour tonight is definitely lighter than the 4ppm. It is also time to change rowaphos however may just leave it a few more days, increased the flow rate through the reactor. Don't really want to change it out and drive phos really low I think it maybe better to have it around 0.05~0.07 until No3 starts to decrease as well. After reading it does seem to take a lot longer for No3Po4x to reduce po4. Although I do plan on keeping rowaphos running.
Tuesday 10th (4 days in) - Nitrate 3 ppm, -No3po4 5ml
Skimmer rinse <100ml 4 days
Friday 13th (7 days in) - Nitrate 3 ppm, will up dosing slightly to 6 ml for the next week
Skimmer rinse ~80ml 3 days -After 1 week of dosing no real change from the initial 4 -> 3ppm..
Friday 20th (14 days in) -Nitrate 2ppm 6 ml per day
Skimmer rinse still every 3 days. Nitrate has slowly come down and is hovering around 2 ppm. Another week of 6 ml and hope to head down to 1 ppm, we'll see. PO4 has krept up as I need to replace rowaphos this week end. Its around 0.1 tonight
Friday 4th October (28 days in) Nitrate 1 ppm 6ml /d
tested this morning to find my nitrates now at 1ppm. So will back off dosing to maybe 4ml / d for the next week and see if I level out around the 1ppm mark. Do not want to go under this.
Sunday 20th October 44 days in Nitrate 0.75 ~ 1.5 ppm 2~3 ml
I did go down to 0.75ppm so reduced the dosing to avg 2.5 ml/d. Testing today the nitrates have crept up to 1.5~2ppm. Will probably increase dose to 4~5 ml.
Tuesday 5th November 60 days in Nitrate 1 ppm (4 ml dose) 0.04 PO4
OK think I got the dose correct now at around 4ml per night. Still not hooked up to a dosing pump and think I have about 25% of the nopox bottle left so should do 3 months on one bottle so not too bad at all.
Wed 20th Nov 75 days in Nitrate 0.6 ppm (4 ml dose) 0.05 PO4
Holding steady, rowphos is clogging in reactor and going hard although only use about 1" in a TLF150 reactor and do not need to change soo much. I am sure NoPox is helping with phosphates as do not chnage my rowaphos very often at all. Happy and assume my coninued usage will only cost $40 ~6 months
