Introduction:

After a year of planning and purchasing equipment, I finally got my tank up and running in March 2011.

Reefing Since: March 2011

System Objectives: A stable, thriving ecosystem.

Type of reef: Mixed reef

Display System:

Initial Fill Date: March 2011

Display Tank Dimensions: Second hand 5x2x2 (built by Dennison apparently)

Display Lighting: ATI Powermodule (8x54w)

Stand: Second hand pine stand

Hood or Rimless: No hood

Sump Design: 4 foot, located in garage (back to back with display tank in living area), 3 section (skimmer, refugium, return). 24 hour lighting (23watts).

Filtration:

Support systems:

NSW or ASW: ASW

Display Water circulation: 2 x JVP 12000lph

Return Pump: Laguna Max Flo 3500

Skimmer: Bubble Magus BM200P

Evaporation Top Up: RO (manual)

Chemical additions:

Calcium Addition: Damprid

Alkilinity Addition: Sodium Bicarb

Magnesium Addition: Epsom Salts

Bought some live rock off someone who was shutting their tank down. Came with a few zoas, xenias, an urchin and red mushrooms. Paid 80 bucks for the rock.

Hi Jonathon, I've done freshwater for years, but this is my first marine tank. My camera is a Canon 550D and most of the shots are taken with a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens. Some shots are taken under the tank lights (with white balance corrected) or with an old flash unit.

For some reason, I find the little inhabitants who found their own way into my tank the most fascinating, like this little guy

Tried taking a video of the tank. The kids had the TV blaring in the background so I replaced the audio with music. Apologies if it's not to your taste. I think I got the white balance right tho...
