Can we build a Lobo garden?
As you may be aware, we have several Lobos', is it possible to build a Lobo garden eg: have them all relativly close together without them killing each other! We want to get them all off the sand and have them on a shelf together.

Thanks
K & J

Haven't kept these myself but have read that they can attack each other
maybe someone who has kept these can chime in here

Apparently put out mesenterial filaments with which they attack other corals- dunno how long these would be

To be truthful with you, many of the Mussidae really don't go well together - Lobophyllia and Symphyllia are the two worst offenders and given opportunity are quite aggressive. Best to keep them separated if you can, they're solitary species anyway.

If you stick to Lobophyllia hemprichii it should work for you. I have been able to keep these together but mixing species within the genus can be a problem. there are mountains of colour variants within the species.

I've found this true of west coast ones or east coast ones, but similarly to how Hammers from different coasts don't mix... it seems like it's on for young and old once you start mixing them. There's always going to be a risk involved, but hell if it wouldn't look pretty amazing if it came together.

Hmm. I have east, west and NT hammers touching, not doubting just its not an exact science lots of variants lots of possibilities. I would have been keeping WA only hemprichi together.

The current light setup does nothing for his color, could I be wrong in calling him an Ultra?

As for the hammer's n0rk, the ones we have in a group now seem ok. As for east & west, no idea! :eek How would you tell?
