Where Bleached...
Little shocked to open the whitsunday times and see this article on coral bleaching. Out of the 8 pictures it only shows two bleached corals...... its ok people.... its only happening further north! No need for concern here?!

When the Tsunami hit Phuket the best thing at the time was to revisit helping them rebuild.
When relying on tourist dollars to pay hundreds of staff it would be in the operators interest to encourage the crowds to visit instead of them seeing thier staff joining the dole line.

yeah can't blame them. got to keep tourism up. Must admit, I didn't read the article, but they probably aren't suggesting it isn't a global problem - just saying that locally they still have lots of life and colour

I've seen similar discussion on Facebook - a feeling among locals/collectors that the world's press is over-stating the bleaching, many areas still completely/largely unaffected. Yet all of the negative press must be hurting the tourism industry.
