Yeah I have done a lot of research and think I can keep it under control with good house keeping and I cant avoid it anyway. It will come one day. Could be on any rock or frag.

I think you made the right choice. When i said i would be worried about the algae i did not think you should throw out the rock. The close up pictures show its a beauty. Pick off the algae and go for it. I can't see any very annoying algae on the closeups.

By the way, the thicker algae on that rock looks to be either codium or dead man's fingers. Both good.

Okay i know i am really new to this hobby but i had the same white stuff on my LR after a few days of putting it in my tank. I just left it and it cleared up on its own. It looks like a cobweb with maybe water trapped underneath.... is how i would describe it.
