I'm a helpdesk nerd. Trained as an actual tech back when techs actually had to know things other than point and click. Spend too much time not doing technical nerdy stuff at work. Also put a few years into retail when being a screwdriver jockey started to pay less than the average receptionist (and still seems to in private industry). Sort of a sad history when I have sys admin experience as well.......

retired boilermaker/metal fabricator. done my apprenticeship working with nothing but stainless steel. have had a fair variety in my jobs, from stailess work which included the usual kitchens and industrial work, to modern art and furniture. then to manufacturing parts for big companies like EDI and bombardier fabricating train parts and also parts they have used on space shuttles. general steel work and industrial steel work ( I beams for the big sheds and buildings). more kitchens and ducting, camper trailers. I also worked at a place called Bozmac one of the bigger truck manufacturers in Australia build tilt slide trays, there I was part of the development team in design and fabrication of the 180 rotator tilt slide tray back which would not only tilt and slide but also rotate a full 180 degrees on the pivot of the back of the truck. soon after fabricating it and getting it working my foreman didn't like that I was the one who designed and got it working so got laid off (wasnt happy bout that as it made the company a shit load and I should of been entitled to a percentage bonus).

the camper trailer place was the last place I worked at before I did my back (at work).

I also spent time working a bar where I was working full time in my trade (50-60 hours during the week) then another 30 odd hours over the weekend at the bar. worked at my brothers LFS until it closed down, last but not least have worked for my dad as a mechanic (he was a transmission specialist) for a while in between a couple of jobs.

oh, I also ran my own stainless steel fabrication business for a little over a year making modern furniture and fancy stuff, that was cool but I shut down as I got offered a salary I couldnt refuse at the time.

well thats about it for the past ten years of my life, now retired at 25 due to the accident, plans are to sort out my law suit against work cover, once that is sorted I will figure out something, possibly buying and selling/renting out houses.

When I left school I studied IT network admin and programming c++ and vb. I decided that I didn't want to work in an office playing with computers all day. So now Im a plumber by trade and after 7 years on the tools I ruptured a disc in my back at work, and now I still work for a plumbing company but in the office. I am in charge of 20 plumbing vans and have to make sure they are at their jobs when they need to be there and that they get them done without hiccups. It is absolutely crazy most days and I dont go more than 10 minutes without one or both of my phones ringing!

I am an Environmental Consultant who works for an enginerring firm. Did a BSc (hons) and a PhD at uni, not that that prepared me for live outside of the university (also known as the "sheltered work-shop for the socially inept"). Lectured a few subject whilst in Uni (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biometry and Genetics) until I migrated to Brisbane (from Sydney). Been a consultant ever since. Currently work as a Botanist, but majored in Zoology and Microbiology whilst at Uni.
My pasion however lies in animal symbiosis/behaviour/ and invertebrate zoology.

VB lol, god I hate phones, when I was in charge of my workplace at the last job I was at I got so sick of the phones rining all the time, just as I would go to put my welding helmet over my face the bloody phone would ring! it eventually ended up in pieces, they dont bounce to well of 100 ton metal presses :eek:the stupid thing was my boss (owner) went out and got me a brand new phone! that didn't last to long either, I left it at the shop after the accident.

I know how ya back feels though bro! it sucks!.

I dont think I could of handled university, i barely got through high school (finished year 10). finished trade school within a year and a bit as I didn't want to be there just wanted it done.

some interesting jobs you guys have! if I had your patience for school doc I probably wouldnt have done me back!
