Hi everyone,

I found a tiny, tiny, tiny pistol shrimp in some live rock I purchased. I am just wondering what should I be feeding him? He is only around 7mm

he will just eat leftover. they are great addition to clean up crew.
i had a few in my last tank, the are pretty awesome

I think the little shit may have killed all my star fish. There is something in the tank that has killed them. For a few days I saw arms everywhere, now all the bodies are gone too :/

Are you sure its a pistol and not a mantis

i dont think it would have been the pistol, there are probably alot more hitch hikers you have not seen, some you will not see for months. When my last tank was a year old there were still crabs and things showing up that i had not seen before

Would crabs go and kill starfish? I did see a small orange crab, but he is tiny.

Crabs definitely would, did the starfish get stuck in a pump at all ?

At the end of the day, regardless of what you feed your tank, if its food and accessible , it will get eaten.
If its not the usual diet, when hunger sets in, it..... WILL get eaten :)

Looking at it from a hitch hiker point of view, you would be surprised at what can lurk. Even rockwork in QT will not show anything at times, then later you find you have an assassin. Welcome to the marine condition..lol

Yeah it is weird. No it did not get sucked into a pump at all. Now all the starfish have vanished pretty much, no idea what happened to their bodies.

mine seemed to vanish to with no signs :(
