Skimmer Upgrade?????
Ok so I have cracked it with my stock redsea max 250 skimmer, wondering what options are around ($250 max budget) the gap I have to work with is 9cm x 20cm.
I've seen the tunze 9004 and aquamedic turbo 500 but they are max rated at 250L.

Need help please

Hmmm with a max budget of $250 and the space you have available in the RSM250, you will be fairly limited. Perhaps a second hand Deltec MC500?

On a redsea group I got told buy external overflow, controllable pump and a normal in sump skimmer, put photos up a guy linked me too. But would need a 35x35x30-40 tank.

yeah I wouldn't have thought that would be too possible with a $250 budget....

Otherwise yeah, just buy a new tank with sump and move your current gear over to it...

The guy obviously wants to sell that stuff to you.

The Aqua Medic Skimmer is a piece of crap.

Sam's advice for a Deltec MC500 is sound. See if you can get one.

Only tank I've found in my budget is an aqua reef 300 but it has no skimmer :(, wasnt to keen in changing tank till I can afford to buy something like a redsea max s650,
Might just get aquamedic 500 or tunze 9004

The guy didn't have anything for sale was trying to give other option to think off, what's wrong with aquamedic turbo 500 skimmer, I can find a deltec in my budget cheapest one is $100 more then I have and the guy wont budge in price

In all honesty, there is no point upgrading to something that isn’t much better. Despite noise and heat, the stock 250 skimmer isn’t too bad.

Might be better off keeping that money aside for the upgrade, or just spend it on more water changes?

I get what your saying buy I honestly cant get this thing to skim right, I either get a nasty neck and no skim in cup or heaps of white bubbles and no dark skim,
I remember when I had my aquamedic blenny that skimmer used to drag out some disgusting skim and was soooo much more adjustable and quiet then the redsea. The skimmer is by far the most noisy thing in house.

When I get new tank will be when I get my payout for my back injury, the mrs likes the redsea max s after seeing Bret's 400L version so she has pre approved me for a 650L one as it will fill the 6ft gap properly.

Yeah totally get you, my advice - bide your time for a deal to come up unless you plan on keeping the tank for 5+ years, then splash on it

We use Coralbox skimmers here exclusively from their DC300- DC900. On that tank, the DC500 should fit. I'm using one on my 50 cube and it has a small space for a skimmer.
