Hi guys caught this little fella in a bottle trap meant for a mantis shrimp. Been baiting for a week unsuccessfully. :(

Can anyone tell me if this guy can go back in? I looked at chucks addiction.com/hitch crabs.html but he seems not to look like any of the crabs listed.

Acro crabs are reef safe, but I am not sure this is one ... I thought they were usually smooth.

I did find one in google images... and read an article of a pest crab that imitates an acro crab.. known to be hairy like and a pest

I just leave any and all crabs in the tank unless and until they cause a problem. In all my years the worst thing that has happened (to me... in my case!! will stress that point) is a crab managed to grab an injured fish that was actually recovering really well, so I was a bit peeved. Play it by ear and enjoy the little glimpses you will get of hidden life like this one
