Name And Water Flow Type?
Sorry to keep doing this but what is the name of this coral and what flow does it like. I have just been given it... so the price is right.

Looks like a Gorgonian. If it is a non-photosynthetic Gorgonian then I would not recommend it as they are very hard to keep. They need relatively high flow to stop any detritus building up on them.

Gentle flow and specific feeding - not a starter coral I wouldn't have thought

Bugger me - I thought it was the other way around.

Believe @Buddy with the flow but I agree - not a starter coral. Pic isn't great but it looks dead anyway.

Hopefully someone can tell you if it photosynthetic or not, but if it is receiving light and flow then I would just let it be. If it dies in a few months then you know it was most likely photosynthetic.

I have one exactly the same, in high light and high flow.

Its a dam hardy Gorg, had it for years about the only thing going well in my tank at the moment.

i think they need feeding 3 times a day of snow/micro/plank/etc

make sure you have very good nutrient export or your phos and what not are going to be hard to keep in check & thus make it hard to keep.

Some products you may look at getting it you are looking to keep it long term

The FM stuff seems fairly complete and I have had reasonable success (1yr +) using it solely. My failings with then have always been life getting busy and dropping off the feeding.

The more variety and frequent feedings seem to turn into growth rather than sustaining

From sewatec seems fine, they don't label it as food, they generally post as either gift or electrical goods.

The only product that seems to be an issue is the reef chilli if you get it through BRS they label as food and it gets pinged.

Only ways I have found around this is to befriend someone of reef central to post for you or using one of those places like comgate and having it put in with a few pairs of shoes or something.
