I have just seen something in my LR and have no idea what it is.

It has five legs about 70mm long each is about 0.3mm diameter and they are segmented green and black in 3mm alternating strips

The 'tentacles' wonder around like an octopus and I can't see a body...more like a xmas tree worm as the 'leg' disappear into the LR from time to time.

Any ideas?

Hard without a picture, but my guess would be as Talmier said.

Does it look something like this

They come in all different colours and sizes.

Generally good, they are great scavengers. Big ones can catch and eat fish although the ones you get as hitchhikers on live rock should be OK.

they are generally good. Will filter food out of the water column and collect detritus from the sand bed/rocks.
