Just wondering what the recommended number or hermit crabs would be for my tank
Tank is 38L, currently has 3 hermit but they are always walking over my zoanthids and they are moving them around my tank so thinking about just having the one

I was wondering this myself... I just got 4 for my 200L tank I dont know if this is enough.

Donski, how big are the hermits?
Personally, I have not had a lot of success with the hermits we have available in Australia - I tended to end up with a lot of empty snail shells:eek:. I think snails do a much better job of cleaning up algae etc and thus I now have snails and no hermits.

A quick search of a number of sites reveals similar thinking, especially in a reef tank. They can be good for cleaning the sandbed, but this job has been taken over by stromb snails these days.

my tank is pretty small (38l) and i know that strombs can grow pretty big, would a small one be ok in my tank into it grows bigger

I currently have two little guys in my tank and they are really funny to watch. With the 4 foot tank I will buy more.

i had 12 in my 4 foot and never had a problem and they kept the sand nice and clean, i am using this as a guide for my nano.
12 in 365L tank = 1 per 30L
My tank is 38L so there is to many

I have two of them in my nano, and that is 23 litres. There is plenty of work for them to do.
