Help .......now i have a pinky colour slimy hair growing on my rocks and no one seems to know what it is

fairy floss ? .....i have no clue .... following !

Could it be some sort of sponge? Does it move around or is it a growth? I have some weird sponges growing in my system.

Ok, think i may have found it for you. Google - cotton candy algae. It looks like the start of it.
There is tons of info on controlling it. Hope this helps.
This page has a bit about it, but I googled some pics of it and in the early stages it looks just like it. This link has it in the late stage so looks a little different.

If you google candy cane algae, when first developing it looks just like yours. That's how it starts, the first pic I saw was almost exactly the same.
