Green Star Polyps
I have read in a few places that you need to "watch out" for GSP !

Is this due to them smothering or attacking other corals as it grows near.
Just wanted to know what happens as these things grow near my SPS.

Thanks!

They are a bit like xenia in that they are not agressive because they sting, they just grow really quick and encurst everything.

Have you seen the thread on RC "when you let xenia and GSP have its way"

Hahaha nice photos , cheers!

NiCd what's your opinion on the slime that Xenia produces and it's effect on SPS.
I know Xenia would make a great filter in a refugeum.

hehhe yeah i actaully really like the look of that xenia forest, I have let my own thicken right up and my tangs are hiding inbetween the stalks :)

I havnt noticed any ill effects running xenia and SPS side by side, when I went full SPS in my display I still ran it in the fuge and it out competed the marco in there.

I have heard people say its needs dirty water to survive but its the only soft coral ive had that thrives in ULNS (were even LPS has starved) as long as the lighting is strong. If you are particaully concerned about the slime carbon seems to do the trick after I chop mine up.

I run a compact power saver (28w) on the fuge, the xenia looses the purple look and goes more a grey.

This is how it looks in the fuge
