Dosing Question
Dosing Question:

I just started dosing today and think I stuffed up a little.

I did a water change and tested my levels the following morning:

Cal 350
Alk 9.8
MG 1400

So the following the Red Sea ABC products I proceeded to dose the amounts that I thought I calculated correctly.

After dosing retested a few hours later and got the following:

Cal 500
Alk 11.2
MG 1400

Know am I correct in saying that my calculation for dosing Calcium was wrong and that I have added too much?

Any tips or pointers would be good.

If your target was Ca=450, then you either dosed too much or are miss interpreting the test results(which is common).

A few tips:
- Check Red Sea test kit videos on Youtube. each of their tests have slightly different ways to read it.
- When adopting a new supplement, dose 1/3 or 1/2 of the calculated amount and test. This will prevent large variations in case of miss calculation.
- Avoid raising more than 0.5dKh/day if the tank has any stony corals.
