Custom Tank ?
So I want to know who in Melbourne makes custom tanks and any idea on cost.

If I go custom I want a drop off tank, dimensions
150cm long
80/40cm deep
75cm wide

I want the deep section 75cm long and high section 75cm long. Tanks would be approx 680L plus sump.

If I dont go custom I'd be looking at something like a red sea max s 650

Get in touch with Dave from DeerPark aquariums, he'll sort you out :)
I sent Billy from starfire a message but no response. Atm just quote hunting as I got told I'd be up for a cool $10k for a redsea max s650 with the led lights, and I feel for $10k I could get something truly impressive.

Just one tip - if looking for a red sea tank, go a red sea reefer. That way you are not buying lights that you are instantly replacing.

My setup was under that $10k budget pretty easily, was designed and supplied by dave with the tank being built by billy :)

Yer I was looking at reefer/peninsula and s models, they are using hydra 26 hd lights so they are good lights but I just felt that $10k + heaters + wavemaker was just too high.

I know some prices
Mp40 $650
Mp10 $400
Ventra s1 $400
Heaters $80×2
Redsea rsk600 $629
Total $2239

Light options
Kessil ap700 $1700×2
Ai hydra 52hd $1000x2 (reuse mine as well)
Ecotech xr30g4 $950x3+reeflink
Total $2000-3500

So would leave me with $4200 for tank, sump, cabinet, more rock, sand and anything else like algae reactor which I am sure I could get a custom drop off tank and that for less the $4k or in d hope.

Seems like you are double quoting for a few things? Oh wait, no, you are just listing different options.

OK yeah well, if you are wanting top of the line gear in a six foot peninsula, expect $10k. But as always, there are always other options, lower spec gear for now or even second hand gear. Either way, I'd go to a LFS you like and deal with a bit and have a chat to them about your best option. I would probably advise against a drop off tank though.

can I ask why you would want one anyway?
I've seen them on Google, thought they looked amazing and different.

I loved idea of having the sps high flow and light and lps medium flow medium light in same tank, not to meantion the dynamic it can give fish.

not many long running drop off tanks that have really eventuated into much though...

You can totally have sps and lps in the one tank, mixing high light and low light without the need for a drop off tank which creates a whole heap of technical trouble

Billy from starfire is only one happy to give a quote, atm I'm open to every option.

Not sure why you would have to replace four AI Hydra 26’s?

They are a quality light.

If the budget is too high. Get a S500 or S400. Keeping in mind. The tank comes with rear circ pumps. Return pump. Skimmer (which works quite well). I’ve changed the skimmer. But only after three years. ATO included.

You really don’t have to buy anything but a heater to start with. Probably a chiller.

You get what you pay for.
