I am having real trouble with ammonia testing.

I have a salifert kit and also even tried my kids aquasonic

The test goes cloudy and find it very hard to tell colours...any suggestions

What is the expiry date ? Have you checked the instructions to make sure your are doing the test correctly (I don't use Salifert ammonia test so not sure what is involved)?

Have checked dates, have checked instructions, and even had LFS test for a comparison...but the colour isn't like pH or other tests where it is easy to tell the reading.

Does anyone recommend a kit that is clear and easy to read?

How about the new readsea pro test kits? I use the alk one and it seems really easy to use.

i use api test kit, its pretty easy to read
i also have one of these seachem ammonia alert sensor, you just put it in your tank and it gives a constant reading http://www.aquaria.com.au/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/5319
